The Marche is a beautiful natural area in central Italy, where the tourist industry has not yet sprung up. The Verdicchio is also known to us, mainly because of its somewhat kitschy amphora-shaped “Gina Lollobrigida” bottle. The main producers are trying to get rid of that image by emphasizing the wine rather than the bottle. Sartarelli has currently become the reference of the Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi.
Grape: 100% Verdicchio.
Winemaking: After a gentle pressing of the grapes, the fermentation takes place in large stainless steel vats under precise temperature control.
Color: Clear, straw yellow with a slight green hue.
Nose and taste: The complex nose, in which you can smell apples, hazelnuts and also flowers, the oiliness and a fresh acidity lift this Verdicchio above the average white wines. A balanced structure on the palate with a nice bitter aftertaste.
Serving: At cellar temperature, but in the summer it may be allowed to serve in the fridge an hour beforehand, but certainly not too cold.
Serve with: Ideal with fish, but can also be enjoyed without food.
