Taurasi is located in the interior of Campania, off Naples and Sorrento. Antonio Caggiano makes his wines there with an unprecedented passion and pampers them like his children. His cellars carved into the rocks are well worth a visit. In addition to his acclaimed Taurasi, Antonio makes some fantastic white Cru's.
Grape: 100% Aglianico from one old vineyard "Macchia dei Goti".
Winemaking: After a rigorous selection of the grapes, the skins and juice are left to soak for a long time. Then one starts the alcoholic fermentation in large oak barrels. After fermentation, the wine refines for 12 months in barriques and then a few more months in large barrels. After all this, the wine refines for 6 months in bottle in the lower floor (14 meters below ground) of Antonio's magnificent cellars.
Color - Nose - Taste: Almost ink colored wine with a nice sparkle. With aging, the wine takes on a mahogany-brown appearance. In the nose you clearly recognize forest fruits, spicy notes, eucalyptus and cedar. In the mouth, this Taurasi is very balanced with lots of floor-like tannins and elegant acidity.
Serving: Let this wine come to room temperature gently and open it a few hours beforehand.
Storage potential: A wine that can stand aging. If you can stay away from it, it will certainly age tssn 10 to 20 years.
Serve with: Very suitable with strongly spiced meat dishes and game dishes.
