Vinous – Neil Martin – Score 91/100
The La Commanderie has a vibrant, mint-scented bouquet with ample black fruit, but tight and coiled-up at the moment. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannin, well balanced with fine poise, classic sous-bois and graphite notes fanning out on the finish. Excellent. Tasted at the Cru Bourgeois tasting in London.
Robert Parker The Wine Advocate – Score 88-90/100
The 2016 La Commanderie has a strong pencil box and tobacco scented bouquet that pins this nose straight to Saint Estèphe. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin, a mixture of red and black fruit with a touch of sea salt towards the finish. It just loses a little energy towards the finish—hopefully the palate can up its game during élevage and match the impressive aromatics.
